Why should you read Madan no Ichi?
✔️ Same author as Iruma-kun!
If you enjoy the blend of comedy, magic, and charm that made Iruma-kun a hit, you’ll feel right at home with Madan no Ichi. The author once again showcases her unique talent for creating magical worlds with captivating characters, but this time with a slightly more adventurous and intense tone.
✔️ Intriguing and promising protagonist
Ichi isn’t a mage, yet he’s in the middle of a world where magic is everything. This contrast creates an interesting tension and huge potential for character growth. And as readers have pointed out, he does resemble Iruma in some ways — but with a bolder edge.
✔️ Original and immersive magical world
The concept of hunting magic and a magic system dominated by women introduces a narrative twist, leading to unique discussions and conflicts. The idea of “patriarchal magic” mentioned by fans sparks curiosity about how the universe will evolve and what social and magical barriers the protagonist will have to face.
My opinion:
Madan no Ichi surprised me right from the first chapters. It’s the kind of story that takes a cliché (magic and an unconventional protagonist) and cleverly reinvents it. The author once again delivers a work with great potential to grow. If you’re looking for something fresh, with the feel of a classic and the soul of something new, I highly recommend it!
